Alfred Hitchcock Collection

AFA Collection - Alfred Hitchcock Collection

The Alfred Hitchcock Collection depicts an intimate portrait of the famous director through home movies, showing us the funny side of the Master of Suspense. Many of Hitchcock home movies have been preserved by the Academy Film Archive in recent years. This rare footage includes Hitchcock himself, in front of the camera, spending time with his wife and daughter, on vacation, and at their cottage in the town of Shamley Green. Other highlights from this collection include the earliest known color footage of Hitchcock, as well as 16mm film shot on the set of “Blackmail” (1929) and “Frenzy” (1972).

The film material at the Academy Film Archive is complemented by material in the Alfred Hitchcock papers at the Academy’s Margaret Herrick Library.
